Size 4 anyone? anyone? Bueller?

  • Sep. 6th, 2008 at 3:16 PM

Ebay auctions

Okay...the house clean out for my goal of a totally "free" Christmas is underway. I've listed a TON of clothes...AWESOME LEATHER PANTS...jeans, kids clothes, BOOKS, doll stuff [of course]....

I'm trying to recycle clutter into Christmas money. The Girl Child's Christmas is now completely purchased and paid for. Now, I'm working on the Boy Child's list. Which contains 1 item. A new computer package. His current one is about 10 years old I think.

If anyone knows a teen or woman that wears a size 4 to 6 there are some really awesome clothes listed. I had to part with 2 pairs of Awesome Gap leather pants too....middle age is catching up with me at last. Sigh.

Novel almost finished. Sewing continues, nearly finished with a Bedtime for Bleuette ensemble with robe, nightgown, slippers, quilt, teddy bear and book. Listed 2 new fall ensembles today.

Other writing progresses. I hope you're all on pins and needles waiting for SYMPHONY FOR THE FORGOTTEN!! I'll forgive you if it's just pins and no needles. hee hee.

Gotta go write more words. Words are good.

Baby Satyr #1 has been adopted!

  • Jul. 22nd, 2008 at 12:16 PM

Awwww....I'm packing up little Baby Satyr right now to go home to his new daddy. His twin baby Satyr is sad, but happy his brother found a home! I still have others [including demons and aliens] if anyone is interested drop me an email. I'm not listing them again until mid-October, and then it will be whatever is left over from the various conventions and art shows they're all going to. But, they're still for sale [$35 plus $12 s/h].

Busy editing today. Out of the Garden and Other Tales of the Barbarian Kabar of El Hazzar is getting a last run through and I hope to send it off to the publisher on the top of my list today. Christopher and my novella, Black Mercy Falls, is getting the final edit from Christopher and it, too, goes off to the publisher, hopefully before we leave for Tulsa. I'm also finishing up our REHupa zine so that can get mailed tomorrow to Indy Cavalier. I have an introduction to write for Janrae Frank's new book, and my column for FearZone, and THEN I can get back to Ragnar....furiously trying to get Christopher and my fantasy novel wrapped up, as I have a horror novel collaboration that needs to get started. Busy worker bee.

Andy Martinez, I received your email through my web form on my website about Portals of Terror and Momento Mori. First, let me say, thank you for writing and I'm so glad you enjoyed Eric S Brown and my collection! Second, you didn't include your email, or my form cut it off, so if you'd like to write, hit that web form and send me your email. On Momento Mori
unfortunately, it's out of print, and only available as an e-book. It had been scheduled for reprinting, but the publisher went bye-bye. Thank you so much for your interest in it! If you do get the e-book, be sure to tell me what you think!

I haven't received word from the editors/publishers about Spicy Slipstream Stories, so I don't know if it came out at Readercon or not. I don't have a cover image yet. Will keep you posted with ordering info.

Here's my amended Conestoga convention schedule:

Sat 10:00 AM - Salon F              1.0   Panels            Oh, the horror
Sat 01:00 PM - Salon G              1.0   Writers Workshop Collaborating: The care and feeding of your partner

Auctions closing on the demon and satyr baby dolls. I won't be re-listing whatever is left after the auctions for awhile, as I'm going to be taking them to some conventions and art shows.
Bleuette ensembles closing as well. Still running the buy 2 ensembles get a cute 4 inch jointed doll for free offer. See photo of cute dolly below!

Novel progressing. We're submitting the novella this week, our REHupa zine, and I'm submitting my Kabar collection. Finished the first book in Janrae Frank's Lycan Blood series and it's AWESOME!

We spent our weekend shopping at thrift stores, using our 50% off coupons at all of the area Half Price Bookstores. We had a long lunch with Jim and Charlee Jacob, and then did some more book shopping. We had items at all of the stores that we had our eyes on for a while, so ran to use the 50% off coupons. I got an antique cardboard treasure chest w/20 little books, an awesome 1950s [London Eng publisher] fold around Doll house book ...awesome 50s detailing!, Chris got some cool deals, among them the entire Indiana Jones collection [w/out new one of course] in dvd format, among other things. Scored some nice clothes for Kiddo#1 and myself at the resale shops.

Busy weekend!

Dolls listed on ebay...

  • Jun. 27th, 2008 at 12:30 PM

Doll auctions listed on ebay

For inquiring minds, can still be purchased direct, but the auctions have lower start bids.
Will try to get flesh-toned demon baby in white christening gown and other w/tummy plate and flannel gown listed soon.

Other than sewing on Bleuette ensembles, and working on novel, I'm also writing a new Kabar story for an antho I was invited to submit to...no title yet...started last night and it's going good...back to work for me...

Christopher and I hit a super awesome video store closing sale...we got 25 movies...made a dent in their untouched horror section...we originally had 42 dvds but made ourselves put a lot back. We got some we had on vhs, some we were looking for, some we hadn't seen but wanted to....awesome! So after our writing is finished...it's movie time...for the rest of the summer, lol!

Little red DEMON baby is finally here...

  • Jun. 11th, 2008 at 5:01 PM

Baby Satyr's auction for his adoption closes in 6 hours....he has 15 watches...he would love to come home with you!!

Baby Alien-Human Hybrid is now ready...

  • Jun. 4th, 2008 at 8:28 PM

Baby Alien-Human Hybrid baby is now available for adoption. He or she comes with one set of jammies that the lucky mama or daddy gets to choose from Robots, Vintage Star Trek fabric, sun, moon, stars w/metallic rick-rack ala Kirk, or pink/silver metallic quilted fabric [no pics yet].

You can adopt this poor victim of psychopathic alien experimentation with humans here.

He/she is a little bit less expensive than the more involved Baby Satyr that is also still available for adoption!

The beat goes on...

  • May. 20th, 2008 at 1:11 PM

Yesterday, the 19th, was Christopher and my 2nd wedding anniversary. We remarked that it seems like a lot longer than that. In a good way. We decided it must be the fact that we were friends for so long  before, that the time seems longer. It's been very blissful. There is no doubt in my mind that Chris is my soulmate...I've never been so happy. I look forward to a lifetime together...many more happy memories, many more books, many more adventures. I love you baby.

Finished piecing the southern belle quilt/sewing all the squares into the quilt top today. Packed up the sewing machine for a while. It's been out for some months now. I'm glad to be cleaning up the sewing for awhile. That doesn't mean I'll stop hand sewing. Just the clutter of the sewing machine is going away. Yay!

All that is left on the monster babies is the painting, rooting of eyelashes, and fixing them to the bodies [which are stuffed and weighted and waiting]. All of the clothing is finished.

Writing continues on the fantasy novel.

Blurbage and reader comments are beginning to roll in for my new horror collection, Symphony for the Forgotten, due out this fall from Daverana Enterprises.

I will be signing/selling books on Memorial Day, May 26th, at The Book Faire bookshop at Scarborough Faire in Waxahachie, Texas. I'll have with me, copies of Frontier Cthulhu, Sails & Sorcery, Beneath the Surface,  Return of the Sword, and others. Christopher and the kiddos will be mingling with the crowds, although mead consumption will be at an all-time low due to the presence of the kiddos. Come out and see me at the Faire!

New Kabar story coming May 1

  • Apr. 18th, 2008 at 1:26 PM

A new story from my fantasy series, Tales of the Barbarian Kabar of El Hazzar, is coming May 1 in the May issue of Flashing Swords.

"Sacrifice of the Utukki: From the Tales of the Barbarian Kabar of El Hazzar" is a story featuring Kabar's wife, Adina. I thought it would be nice to feature a woman warrior for a change of pace. When Kabar is aiding King Segmund of Ur, Queen Tiamat of Caldana comes to Woldenstag for his help. Adina, Kabar’s wife, agrees to rescue Duzi, heir to the throne of Caldana, from the clutches of the Utukki. She must cross through the three gates of Kish to reach the demon realm of the Utukki.

In Other News:
Writing continues.
Sewing on the Bleuette ensembles continues. I have 2 more to finish then will be listing a new batch on ebay.
The Creepy Doll production continues. I am painting the bodies/faces of the Alien-Human hybrids right now and deciding on designs for their clothing. The demon baby parts are in various stages of molding and drying. Woot.

Now I must go walk on my treadmill and watch the crap that passes as daytime news.

Of publications and prototypes

  • Apr. 16th, 2008 at 12:58 PM

2 acceptances, both horror: Dark Hart Press and Daverana Enterprises, anthologies.

Work on novel continues.

Prototype of Demon/Satyr baby head...I think it's awesome...fresh from the mold... I had to sculpt in the horns and pointy ears on a baby head mold. This head will serve as the demon baby head and the baby Satyr head. I'm really excited about the Baby Satyr as it will have real goat hair/pelt on its lower body.

The Scoop

  • Apr. 9th, 2008 at 8:49 AM

Was interviewed by a new Horror Collectors website. Check it out.

Spring Clearance sale at my online doll store. Making room for new stuff. The prices really are clearance prices...so if you're in the market for girly gifts [there are also jumpers/sundresses for 18mos-2t] pop on over.

Writing News: Hard at work on the fantasy novel. Taking another run through on a sci fi/thriller novel that needs to go out. It's been sitting on my desk for too long. One short story in final editing stages. Yay!

Sewing News: 4 summer tops are completely finished. Hope to add all of the shorts and possibly a dress or 2 to the finished pile today.
Monster Baby News: Poured another head/hands/feet set. Pattern coming in the mail for the christening gowns/layette. 3 head molds on their way by FedEx. Soooo excited! I start body construction as soon as I finish the summer clothes for Kiddo#2.

Other News: The final roll of wallpaper border for Kiddo #1's Dallas Cowboys room came yesterday for the 3 feet that I didn't have enough border to cover. Add that to my to do list.
Garden is doing fantastic. Green beans and radishes, tomatoes and jalopenos are doing the best. The cucumbers, boo, not so much. Have to go get already grown cucumber plants from Home Depot. Also, the raspberry bush is doing really well. Still haven't purchased the strawberry plants but have determined they need to go in a pot until I can get another, separate, garden patch broke for them. Strawberries tend to take over everything. Chris and I are looking at Pear trees and Pecan trees for planting. Yay canning!
Put together my new treadmill. Yay!
The Bleuette sewing continues, and my sales on ebay are doing wonderful. Need to finish a couple of ensembles before I list on ebay again.

This weekend is the public library book sale in Grand Prairie AND the Spring sale at the Antique Mall in Mansfield. Double Double Sale fun!

Okay...that's the scoop.

Of Cold Coffee and Mr. King....

  • Apr. 6th, 2008 at 9:52 AM

Christopher checked Fictionwise this morning.  My short story, "Things That Go Bump", is #6 on the Horror Best Seller list, right under Steven King. Woot!

My coffee is cold, but I drank it anyways. Teh Hotness made coffee in the french press and I poured it into a cup with a real gold painted rim, so it's a "not a microwave" cup...so instead of going through the trouble of dumping it into another mug, I just drank it cold. That's what I get for wandering out of bed almost an hour after the coffee was made. lol.

But you know what? Some mornings it just doesn't matter if the coffee is cold. Being told Things That Go Bump was under Mr. King, was enough to warm me up! I've been next to the master King before on Stoker lists. There's always a little ray, though thin and misty as it might be, of hope whenever one sees one's name next to King's. You have to take every shred of hope that comes you way, you know? Though it's very scant, and maybe a weak something to base one's hope on, I suppose.

Anyway, thank you Mr. King for allowing me to share a list with you. It's been a pleasure.

Now, this small press girl must go to the Dallas Comicon and put postcards and such on the freebie table in the small hopes that someone somewhere will pick one up, and maybe read it...and buy a book.

So...off to primp and we must go pick up the boy child for our day out. He's not only a new Lovecraft convert, but is an old pro at comics, superheroes and all things that are Star Wars.

In other news: the sewing of the summer wardrobe for kiddo #2 is underway. The garments are now getting to the fun stage where I get to add embellishments and ruffles and all that good stuff! So much fun! Also, more Bleu sewing continues. Finished the prototype for one outfit last night and began the "one to sell". Speaking of which, my Bleuette ensemble auctions close soon. Things are heating up over there. I have a couple of new things to add to the relists as well.

Monster baby doll update: People are excited! Emails are coming in! I've poured a new set of parts, and 2 sets of parts are in various stages of drying. 2 new head molds are in the mail coming to me. I'm bidding on a darling head mold that will make the sweetest demon baby or baby Satyr for my fantasy people....I can't wait! As soon as I get all of the molds and all of the parts poured and dried, I'll begin the body constructions, which won't take very long. I'm starting the gown/layette sewing as soon as I'm finished with kiddo #2's summer clothes. Yay!

Work on the new novel continues. I hit the half way mark last night. Yay!

The day of busy-ness

  • Apr. 1st, 2008 at 5:14 PM

Really, I'm not jokin'.

*Shipped ebay packages. [which included changing the ink in my printer, labels, tape, etc etc]

* laundry [a day job in itself, lol]

*edits for a new Isgor Chronicle story [Oy]

*Poked on the drying latex doll head/parts...oooooo....awesome....the monster baby line is in the works now! Patterns down and eyeing my fabric stash for darling baby gowns to dress the cutesy wootsy baby monsters in...seriously, this is something you'll want to snag once I've got them for sale for that horror lover who has EVERYTHING...realistic looking cutesy monster babies...

*Planted green bean, cucumber and radish plants I've been greenhousing in the kitchen

*Helped with homework. Kiddo #1 AND Kiddo #2

*Started sewing a new Bleuette ensemble

*Finished sewing a new Bleuette ensemble and packaged and labeled for sales purposes

*Cooking a chicken and veggies

*fixing to help kiddo#2 sew...serving dinner soonish...

I'm Teh Tired now.

I'm now taking orders for custom-created doll dresses for Mother's Day.

Does your mother, grandmother, wife, have a special doll sitting/laying around that could use a spruce up, or just a new dress authentic to the time period the doll was created? A custom-made doll dress is just the thing to create a special moment of something JUST for that special mom.

It's easier than you think! Send me the measurements [head to foot, waist to ankle, shoulder to wrist, around the chest, around the neck] and if you know it what kind of doll it is, an emailed photo would really help too! Tell me the date your mother, etc would have played with the doll [1940s, etc] and for $25 + $5 for s/h[paypal or money order], I'll create a custom, one of a kind, ensemble for the doll.

Email me if interested! angelinehawkes@yahoo.com

I need at least 2 wks prior to mother's day May 11th, to complete your wonderful creation!

Christopher and I have been on a movie watching frenzy. We still have several left from Christmas, we hit a Hollywood Video going out of biz, and we picked up a few at Texas Frightmare Weekend.

To start with, we watched Deadwood Park from Wicked Pixel, directed by Eric Stanz. The film was really really good. What is even more amazing, was to watch an EXCELLENT horror movie with NO nudity! Imagine that! An intelligent director who can present scary content without the need for big, silicone-inflated, Pamela Anderson sized boobs! Wow! Seriously, the movie was fabulous. The sets were so real. I wanted to go rummaging through the old house...some of the antiques and antique fixtures were so cool....and the abandoned amusement part...CREEPY! Really great paranormal movie. Check it out!

Then we watched some Outer Limits...we love The Sixth Finger. Our new catch phrase is: "Your ignorance makes me ill and angry." Seriously, it applies to about 90% of life now.

I've been busy writing, sewing, and the usual. Listed some stuff on ebay:
http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZfulbright06

Antique doll, Barbie set, and an antique cosmetic compact. Go check it out if you're in the market.

That's about it...finished a new work by Steven Shrewsbury that rawketh muchly. Can't talk about it. That's just to tease you. Bwahahahha

We did our tax stuff...took all night....what an ass whup. Glad we're almost done. Have to copy some documents before we send it off to our Accountant.

Okay...off to do laundry and check on my doll molds. More news about that coming soon.

Teh Hotness's birthday is Saturday, March 15th....say it with me...The Ides of March...lol!

Busy sewing weekend...

  • Feb. 18th, 2008 at 5:15 PM

I was hard at work sewing this weekend for a Bleudoor challenge. Lottie is in the red and black, in her LSDS 1928 #9 Visiting Dress and LSDS 1925 #50 Velvet hat. Lizette is helping with maman's laundry. She's wearing a LSDS 1921 #39 Peasant dress. Both are busy working at the salesman sample replica wringer/washer that was a pre-Valentine's Day gift from Teh Hotness.

Besides sewing, I finished/edited chapter 10 and finished and edited chapter 11...and started chapter 12....so <sticking out tongue> I did WORK too!

All work and no dollies makes Angie a bored girl....

OH! PS! I won the aforementioned head! So, a SFBJ 60 Bleuette head is on its way to me from England! Woot!

Sewing and editing...

  • Jan. 3rd, 2008 at 12:05 PM

The girls: Belle, Lottie and Anne Marie [all SFBJ 301 Silver Bleuettes] pose in a holiday photo. [All clothing from LSDS patterns]. The newest dress LSDS Summer Dress #24, 1908. I hand embroidered 100 inches of duckies and dots to use with this reproduction 1930s fabric. It turned out fabulous! Lottie is proudly modeling it! I have enough duckie embroidery to sew another dress like this one to sell, and maybe enough for an LSDS pattern apron. The pattern was in the new book Teh Hotness got me for Christmas that has Bleuette clothing patterns from 1905-1916. Yay!

Today: Final edits on The Swan Road.

Pictures of The Hole Under The Stairs [From where all things writing spring]:

The Hole Under the Stairs [in all of its Holiday Messy Madness; The Wall of "Look What I Did Good!"; The Shelf of Weirdness

And finally,  I leave you with Teh Hotness Family Christmas Tree from the home of Teh Hotness, Teh Hotness #2, Hotness Junior, and Lil Hotness.

Cuz it's been a few days...

  • Dec. 19th, 2007 at 2:06 PM

Munchkins are out for the holidays! Yay! Teh Hotness is also now on a 2 wk school break as well. Sadly, he must still report to the job.

Holiday baking was this past Friday. I made 4 dozen sugar cookies. All that remains are broken angel heads and the tops of the Christmas trees [cookie cutter design flaw]. I ate the half a star that I found at the bottom of the cookie jar with my Pepsi I had for breakfast. lol.

I bought a $5 mink stole off ebay and made the former Bodiless Lottie a mink coat, I still need to tweak the LSDS pattern a bit as the sleeves came out too full and the collar a bit too pouffy:

Also pictured is Belle in the ensemble I created from 100+ yr old Antique satin moiree. Also, Lottie again in her 1909 LSDS pattern Tablier des dimanches [Sunday Apron] apron from the recent Bleuette group apron challenge.  I had fun making the mink coat. I'm trying to win another mink stole off ebay to sew a few more coats to sell. I also recently acquired 2 new heads as well through trades. I traded a fellow Bleuette group member some ensembles for a head. Cute little SFBJ Silver 301 with a blonde bob wig. No body yet.
I've also gotten an SFBJ 247 Twirp...no wig or body for her.

Okay...I am cold. There is much pain. I've been working on the Stoker Internet Mailer that goes out tomorrow, but now I am going to go sew. I finished a baby quilt and several blocks on Kiddo#2's Southern Belle quilt I've been making for her bed and need to sew the pcs together/stitch the binding.

I hurt too much to actively create, so no writing for the afternoon. Bah Humbug.
