Tonight Kiddo#2 and I read Monster at the End of the Book...it's waaaayy below her reading level, but it continues to be one of her, as well as one of my, favorite books. She asked to sleep on the futon in the family room. I don't care too much where she decides to sleep as long as she sleeps...so her bed, or the futon, makes no matter to me.
After the story she said she was a little scared. I asked her what she was afraid of.
It wasn't the massive poster of Darth Vader hanging on one wall.
Nor was it the poster of a sinister looking Batman.
It wasn't the ceramic jack o'lantern with the ghostie flying from an eye-hole.
Nor was it the replica of an antique witch mask.
No. It wasn't any of those things.
It was the Raggedy Ann doll seated in my childhood rocking chair.
Said doll is now covered with a quilt. Darth Vader, Batman, Jack and ghostie, and the witch mask are all reigning wild and free.
Go figure.
